Q: Is everything handmade?
A: Yes! All tula in bloom pieces are handmade, and may include repurposed and reclaimed pieces.
Q: What kind of materials are used?
A: Materials used include, but are not limited to, wood, glass (including sea glass), reclaimed hide and bone, metal and stone. Vintage and reused materials may include beads, buttons, fabricated pendants and salvaged cloth.
Q: Are all of the pieces one-of-a-kind (OOAK)?
A: Though there are a number of one-of-a-kind pieces, other works in the collection have been inspired by an OOAK design and are part of a limited run. Because each piece is made by hand, no two are exactly alike, even the designs that I fabricate again and again. Custom orders yield many OOAK pieces, especially when redesigning pieces from a client's own retired collection.
Q: How do custom orders work?
A: There are two kinds of custom orders: those in which pieces are designed and made from scratch (perhaps with one or two treasures provided by the client) and those in which the client provides a set of no longer worn pieces from her collection that she wishes to have redesigned. After consultation and general sketches are approved, orders are done within 4-6 weeks; faster processing is possible for an additional fee. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
